Someone asked me what promise I meant. I've been avoiding the answer for a few days, which is, in itself, an answer.
Fine. Partial version, because that's all anyone's getting tonight :
I didn't ask him to come back for me. I asked him to come back with a reason big enough that leaving wouldn't have been a waste.
I still haven't decided if surviving ten years counts as a reason, or just an accident with good timing.
